Air Balloon

by Bryce McKay Weyerman

Wondrously spacious, yet calm and gentle they stood.
The evening sun setting in the background.
Luminous they bounce, swaying with the breeze.
The hot air balloons like giant light bulbs of different colors screwed into the ground.
Freckling the night they twinkle like Christmas.
I catch my breath as I step back and watch them illuminate space;
And time stands still.
Hesitating, curious to how long it will let me see through it and enjoy it’s splendor.

This poem was created after a night I watched some hot air balloons with a friends. I remember them lighting up and thinking how much like lightbulbs they looked.
