They are not the ones that got away.
Not in the sense that they are lost from me and a failed romance.
Have no sympathy for me.
No.
They have succeeded and escaped from me.
They are free.
As I was the warden with love at my weapon.
I was cruel.
My apologies fall upon deaf ears, as they should.
They were my victims, and I punished them for loving me.
