Harbor Wedding

By Callie E. Austin

Hanging on the top, dark viewers bestowed cemented corner peering forever. Not looking down to pick a flower young gent protects the tower. Decorated for the ball; I will never fall.

"There is a girl over there maybe I will call.” “She is out in the harbor; that is too far.” Right corner says. “But she is pretty and has decorated hair of ruby and gold.” Left corner exclaimed.

“Look she is raising her mast to say hello. Call to her for a day to meet”.

“Hello sweet lady, I am not much to look at but I am romantic as can be, I have had a lot of time to think about me. I will be as sweet as can be if you will meet me.”

“My friend I have seen you from a far but was afraid to speak as it is not lady like and I have no feet”.

"You are very beautiful all the same and I do not mind about your feet. I say I love you and pray that some day we will meet." "I bow too and pray to all that is good for the day to come that I will have feet, we can hold hands and watch the harbor fleet. Flowers I will bring in my hair and a bow tie I will bring for your handsome neck".

"Then we will wed and protect the harbor for all days".

"This is my vow from this day forward God is to wed us and we will protect all from sadness. Our love will calm the sea and bring the good wealth". "I love you my husband". "I love you my adoring wife".

The gargoyle and figurehead were in love, wed, lived happily ever after watching and protecting the harbor fleet from all strife.
