Reflections

December 5th, 2011

Long brown hair with pretty hazel eyes
With guilt, fears, and insecurities she cries
Standing all alone in the bathroom mirror
She sees her reflection; the picture gets clearer
Her waist has gotten round, she’s got chubby cheeks
Avoiding the full-length mirror; she gets a glimpse and shrieks

Staring at her rippled reflection in the river
Pressures of her future make her quiver
Dimples in her thighs; a body that jiggles
Secretly she wonders if she’s the cause of everyone’s giggles

Gazing at her reflection in the window of a car
She wonders how she let her appearance slip so far
Her self-love has slipped, along with her confidence
Mistakes, pain, and guilt; took away her innocence

Lead her to search for her reflection in the ocean
She will not see one
She will not feel the negative emotion
The beauty of the ocean has no end

Clapping waves and saltwater sunsets; everyone’s friend
Peace and serenity within the ocean
This is where you can free her
Free her from herself; she no longer wants to be Her
