Unconscious, Conscious, Post-conscious
Human beings have always been fighting
with one hand tied behind our back:
Unconscious human intelligence enables us
to act without thinking
and conscious human intelligence allows us
to think about things without doing anything about them
Yet now that artificial intelligence handles
the thinking and the doing
we are tasked with neither
A pessimist might say that now
both hands have been tied behind our back
while an optimist would argue that
both hands are freed for the coming fight
A realist would but note that
both hands have been freed
the better to manipulate them
with marionette strings
