Monsters Inside
A long time ago I finally stopped looking under my bed
for monsters,
Because I began to realize that the monsters that I was afraid of,
They were inside me,
All the monsters that I was afraid of that I thought were under my bed,
Trying to grab my legs as I walk by,
They are the monsters inside me that try to grab me heart,
I am no longer afraid of those monsters anymore,
I am no longer searching for the monsters under my bed,
They all are inside,
Lingering where you would never find them,
Waiting for the right moment to jump out and do what they are supposed to do,
Haunting where you would never think you would remember,
These monsters that I thought were under my bed as a child,
I realized they don’t lie underneath me,
They rest inside me,
They are me,
I am the monsters inside.
