Life, Living, and Covid-19

Visual Interpretation formatted in words, spoken as a witness and essential worker.

2020 has become a year of regrets, nothing but shutdowns and a lot of deaths.

Shopping malls empty, arcades are silent, facemasks become mandatory with many people defiant.

Lines out the door, forgot my fast-pass, social distance feels like being stuck in third class.

Covid pandemic stays on the news, goodbye to the Olympics, might as well break out the booze.

Stay-at-home orders issued, can’t find any tissues, CBS’s The Stand is the only show to switch too.

Covid tests, many protests, schools remain closed for what they think is best.

The elderly enclosed in a box, missing their families and social talks.

Restaurants serving take out, dine in is deadly, doctors gave warnings, why the hell weren’t we ready?

Holiday seasons spread the infection; loneliness turns into depression, lawmakers can’t make up their minds for how to get out of a recession.

The vaccines are ready, time for distribution, only one problem, quantity doesn’t measure up for a solution.

2021 is almost here, it’s time to make 2020 disappear.

As an essential worker for the news media, it's not been a good year. We visually see the statistics and hear the stories caused by this pandemic. I wrote this poem based on the 2020 year. I look forward to 2021, but have to be ready for anything.
