The Lonely Man

For the lonely souls who wander this world in search of something or missing someone.

Throughout the forest of the Sierras, one lonely man takes a stroll on his usual path.
As he gazes toward the sunrise, he hears the calm chirping of birds taking in the new day as it has arrived.
With his guitar in hand, he reaches his peaceful rock, while listening to nature’s song and taking in the fresh air that surrounds his presence.
He starts to hum a tune, knowing the only audience worthy of listening are the peaceful animals, whose eyes glisten in the morning sunrise.
The lonely man starts to sing his favorite solo, while many small creatures have gathered at his bare feet. The other animals in the far distance gaze in his direction, while the lonely man knows that their souls will make a connection. His voice fills the air with emotion as the animals listen to his favorite solo.
“When I was small, yet lonely, you were there for me.
When I was tall, yet lonely, you were still there with me.
Now that your gone, I’m singing this song.
With all my worries taken heed to the open sunlight of the open trees.
You were my special friend with a heart of gold.
Now that your gone, the time is taking too long.
As the years role by, there isn’t a day that I never cry.
You are the one who made me feel that I was never alone.”
There was never an applause, nor a tear shed but his own at his peaceful rock. All animals, big or small, understood his solo in the season near the Fall. The lonely man would back track his usual steps, guitar in hand, and would return many more mornings, until the day he was hand in hand with his special friend, never to be alone again.
