Frustratingly Sonderiffic

Sonder I ponder
Clearly the day drifts on and weariness has dressed her in a beautiful gown
Of elegant decay.
What’s that, you say?
You too?
No way!

And when we got lost in the fort sheets where floor was lava
And dreams had purpose beyond the stars
Jars collecting memories on shelves
In faraway places
Places we imagine we are entirely alone until that one look

Outside of ourselves we see that we were never alone
Losts in your thoughts about your thoughts
Just like that next guy
What is he reading anyway?
But I’m distracting myself with my Self
And can I truly reach a point
Where this disjointed feeling of belonging makes any more sense?

So I found myself parked on a highway
And my bumper almost became roadkill
My nerves swerved but my car stayed remarkably silent
Amongst the sweating, heaving metal.

You know, I bet, when I fret, this person will still jet
Between places because they’ve got something going on.
What is it?
Where were they?
I just arrived to somewhere I never thought I’d be
Watching a version of myself interrupt my thoughts
But are they only mine?

I can recognize in the blur something familiar
A sense of panic
A sense of lonely belonging.
Why didn’t it dawn on me before?
What’s in store for this stranger’s rush?

I really couldn’t tell you but here I sit
Willing to ponder what’s apparently a sonder.

Discord did it. :D
