A Place of My Own

I was told, “Get the smallest place
In the most expensive neighborhood!”
I saw the advantage in doing that
And decided that was good.

Then they said, “Be on level ground,
You want nothing built on a slope!”
So I took that, too, as Gospel words,
This added to my faith and hope.

Then they said, “For safety’s sake
Find a Gated Community."
That sounded right in all respects,
A gated place was the place for me!

So, I tried this and that, and everything,
Saving all my Nickels and Dimes;
I took full advantage of financial thought,
Eliminating competition, at opportunistic times.

Stocks, bonds, and divested derivatives
Seemed to be the perfect place for me,
The thrill of the hunt and to be blunt,
I could do business in obscurity.

Well, I did get a place to call my own
And it is everything that they said that it should be,
But I’m not happy; it’s a little small,
My cell in a Federal —- Penitentiary.
