“Welcoming Autumn”
Let me be among the first
to welcome Autumn
In my tennis shorts and cotton top;
oh, so cool.
With Lemonade in hand
and my toes all nice and tan.
I welcome anything
that sustains my comfort rule.
This Summer?
Oh my god, it was a hot one!
And I thought that I might die
of heat exhaustion.
But in the house, I did stay,
AC for most of the day
And I avoided strenuous duties
when day was done.
I’ll expect some Autumn showers
to cool things down,
And a little cooler weather.
How’s that sound?
Sporting pants and shortened sleeves
while watching trees lose their leaves
Should be enough exercise
to go around.
Yes, I want to be the first
to welcome Autumn.
But it’s still hot,
too hot to go outside.
So, I’ll just stay right in here
With the Air Conditioning near
and watch the leaves, leave the trees,
and glide.
