On Your Shore

To Bre

I am a boulder, but you are the sea. I sit on your shore and admire your beauty. I am always there next to you, never moving. I bathe in your touch as your waves roll up and gently caress me. Each wave taking some of me with you, the more you touch me the more of me you take. I give myself to you willingly, eroding slowly as your waves come and go.

I bask in the light when you have sunny days. I watch you gently roll in and out from the shore dancing so gracefully all of the light beaming from you. I suffer through the misery during your storms. I see your waves swell violently; I see the rain beating down upon you. Your waves smash against me painfully hard; your water brings the sting of sand against me. I give more of myself, but I am unmoved. It is right here on this shore that I stand next to you.

We share this shore, the weather, and a touch that takes more of me back with you each time. As long as your waves roll up and bathe me, I will give myself to you willingly. Through the sunny days and the storms; I will sit upon your shore unmoved and unchanged by anything else but you.
