Storms

In the North East there were cries in the dark,
Things were not good and life was about to get hard,
A storm had brewed and it was bad,
Death had come for many and hearts were saddened,
They called it a super storm and that it was,
It’s name was Sandy and with it came floods,
Winds were strong and waters were deep,
Much was damaged and rebuilding wouldn’t be cheap,
For weeks they lived in dark and in the cold,
People came together to help young and old,
Times like these really tell the truth
Of what people are made of, both me and you.
Natural disasters are so very strong,
You never know when one will hit your home,
So the next time you see a fellow man in need,
Know that you don’t know,
What terrible things his eyes have seen.
Find it in your heart to lend a hand,
Because one day you could need that very man.
