A Twist of the Hutongs

Another one from my time in China

Twist left, turn right, another alleyway getting narrower by the second.
Looks the same as the last one, another little shop, another little Chinese restaurant.
Side step the cars and speeding scooters, of course he’s riding blind I mean who turns on a headlight at night, who can find the time?

Remembering your compass you query; ‘which way was North?’
Perhaps if you follow the noise you will be able to find the source.
Its all an adventure so they say in the end, lets just stop into this bar where the fuwuyuan will pour you just a little too much head.

You step back out into the maze, head a little light from the shot,
your mind is in a daze.
You walk down one hutong that melts into the next, you’re thinking where am I but still hoping for the best.
The night is still young though the streets you walk are old, but just like a rip tide you dont fight the current; just like you have been told.
The flow stumbles you out of the darkness and you find the bright lights, your friends outstretched arm questioning ‘Bro you al right?’

The company of mates, and the beer tastes just right, at the end of it all; looks like its gonna be a good night.
