I locked the past in a little box

Hidden in a corner of my mind

Around it, a yellow ribbon

That someone left behind...

Sometimes, I go and open it

To see what nuggets, I can find

Lessons that’ll show me the way

Even if the past I can’t unwind!

Happy are they who have contentment in their present and are positive of their future regardless of their past.

Thank you Jenifer.

They say "lock away the past" and move on, after a heartbreak or a tragedy. But then, they also say that if you forget the past, you're condemned to repeat it. So I say, move on but remember the lessons from the past, and let those shape your future.

What's done is done, and we learn from our mistakes, some memories are good ones though, perhaps those are the ones we can put that yellow ribbon around and treasure. Nice Poem.
