A Chill Only the Heart Could Feel

So cold,

Why is it so cold?
The air as I suck it in
In gasping breaths
After I have punched my knuckles bloody
And my ragged breathing betrays
The sobs in my heart
Why is it so cold?
The knife as it cuts along my arm
Like molten ice splitting me apart

So cold

The world I live in
Their glances
Their ideals
Their expectations

So cold

The ground under my feet
The concrete of the bridge I stand on
The biting wind on my face
Why is it so cold?
Their laughter
The tears on my face
The water below is probably colder
Or maybe it’s warm
I should find out.

So cold.
