Bleeding Ink

I’m bleeding ink and bleeding out
Dangerous words from hand and mouth
No room for the words left unsaid
Like a text message that’s gone unread

Vital signs are flailing; gasping for life
Clutching my heart, clutching the knife
Open it up to see what does fall
Blind faith in love like a crucifix’ed wall

Wounded in action, love like a war
Hopeless romantic with dramatic metaphor
Perfect vision, yet the eyes cannot see
Poetic devices used like a simile

No point in knees when too weak to stand
Like a frontman going without a band
Swim and swim in the same old town
The burden like weights, soon to drown

I’m bleeding ink and feeling so free
This pen to paper, no captivity
The key to the shackles laid at the feet
Waiting for the day that we finally meet
