Promise

I promised. My promise to you has not yet been fulfilled.
My promise to come back for you.
When I left, I left you with a void unfulfilled.
I took the very essence of happiness from you.

We used to talk of this day,
the day of my departure.
However, I never imagined it in this way.
We used to be so joyous, talkative... full of rapture.

Instead, now we are so far apart.
It seems unnatural to be separated from one whom you love for this long.
I promised we would never be apart, but here we are........apart.
My heart longs to be with you, even though my objectives sing a different song.

But I promised. I promised to come back for you,
and that, I will do.
I will open my eyes and see that my heart yearns for you.
Uninhibited by the harmony of togetherness, we are like two unsynced
instruments playing a different tune.

But I promised. I promised to forever love you.
I promised to come back for thee.
Promises are usually poor excuses for unspoken, unwanted words,
but not this promise, not my promise....not for me.

Previous promises that were said, were kept.
Back when we’d share bliss and longed for more moments.
With the longevity of our separation, I pray that you don’t get swept.
But stay, so that we can meet again where we left off... recreate the moments.

No matter how long this lasts, my promise will never be broken.
It is hard, but we will meet again.
We will rekindle the flames of our passion and grow together unbroken.
The steps will be retraced to where we first found love, where we said forever friends.

Some promises have expiration dates, but not my promise.
Not our love.
I will never fail you,
never let you down
never let you go,
never forget you.
I will keep my one true promise,
i will fill that void in your heart....with my one true... promise
