How Christmas has changed from what it used to be

Things in my life have not really stayed the same
Since becoming a Daddy, as I’ll try and explain

Back then it was a game of footy and a night with the boys.
Now I’m surrounded by dirty nappies and a home of broken toys.

It seems quite long ago that I was never in the house
How did my best friends become Scooby-Doo and Mickey Mouse.

It was always such a scramble getting served at all the bars
Then staggering home beneath a sky full of stars

A lager, a Guinness, the occasional mild
Instead now it’s the snowman, snow dog or Gruffalo’s child

No pizza at the end of the night with all of the toppings
Instead it’s Bed knobs and broomsticks followed by Mary Poppins

Gone are Saturday nights in a club full of totty
Now I’m clapping and cheering because Mya has peed into her potty

I very nearly came off the wagon
The sixth time we watched “How to train your Dragon”

And please don’t tell me they’re going to make Toy Story 4
I really don’t think I can take any more

“You can’t watch your football now” says Ryan “because it’s not for us
I want to watch Woody, Jesse and Buzz.”

So not every thirty six year olds idea of fun
Is watching Cars 2 or Chicken Run

Well you’d think with all this and changing nappies would be my hell
But after a while you become immune to the smell

Yet Christmas feels so magical again as I begin to the feel their joy
Of being sat on the sofa between my gorgeous girl and boy

And the totty that was in the club– she’s sat on the other settee
Watching me with our children smiling happily
