These days
These days you’ve gone your way,
and I’m trying my best to go mine.
I know it doesn’t matter anymore,
but you never leave my mind.
Timing just wasn’t right for us,
though we did the best we could.
We just never had the chance
to be everything we should.
These days I wonder a lot about you,
like if she can make you smile.
If she can take my place at all,
then I guess it was all worthwhile.
It makes me believe you never knew what you wanted.
I almost wish our paths never crossed.
I’ll never regret anything I had with you,
but so much of it is lost.
These days, in my mind, I have memories.
They are clear, but somehow a blur.
There’s so many things I want but don’t have.
And so many things I wish that we were.

This is about my first love. He has moved on..and I am having a hard time accepting that.
