Dark

Dark like the midnight sky on a winter’s night
Fights this gentle heart with all its might
Dark like shadows that rest at my feet
Covering my soul as it tries to be discrete

Dark as the days of those lowly September flights
Tears at my insides and rips me from the light
Dark as the blind through their eyes they still see
The pain and the sorrow that is dreading in me.

Dark is the hurt and the fear as they unite
Towering over me and clouding my sight
Dark is the blank spaces of my loving mind
But even this amount of hurt some are left behind

Dark is my place in this vengeful delight
Even for me I still have to remain upright
Dark is my future if I happen let it remain
So I must change this thing I think it’s called pain
