True Blue Care
Thank you for your service (10-79) is off shift
You put on the blue at the start of each day
the metal the shield that some will betray
You step out your door your family will worry
you reach for a hug your in such hurry
to protect those that call for your unwanted service
your family whispers in your ear that they are all nervous
You pretend to be strong as you hide your own fears
and you go to wipe away your loved ones tears
you kiss them and tell them you will see them tonight
as you try and calm your families fright
when you drive away you never look back
for it is time to focus on the oath that some officers lack
You make sure you show that you wear your badge proud
and work to defend others even those in the crowed
the ones that chant hate at the badge you wear
but you try and show them true officers care
for peace is what you want and peace is a lovely sight
and all you hope to hear is dispatch say "10-79 and good night”
you hope other see you do this for love not power or greed
and going home at the end of your shift is the only payment you need.
