Time goes on forever

She walked down the street
carrying her misgivings in a croched bag
in silk culottes she strode
with the determination of the deluded
her heels tapping out morse messages
of despair and loss... her lip trembled
her phone rang, which brought her up short
she rifled through the crotched bag
dropping tissues and tampons on the pavement
the phone stopped ringing the moment she found it
perplexed, she scrolled and pressed buttons
uttered “damn” too loudly, looked up
saw me watching, shot a look of disgust
in my direction as she scooped up the tampons
and went on her way...

Life is so very fleeting
Time goes on forever
