I Just Want to Know
When I lay down at night I don’t talk to the lord, a chip on my shoulder I got a lot on my chest questions I don’t think he really ready for. Some call you god or even allah others say lord but I won’t address you as anything because I haven’t met you before, some say you’re a guy the father of jesus a spirit in fact but no one has ever met you so who’s to say that’s a natural known fact, you might just be a woman a female, no one knows so no one can tell. My depiction of you and what your description was made to look like is simple, a blue eyed brunette & your skin is pale. Is this the truth if so do it explain all the things you’ve put black men & women through. Do you hate us that much to the point you want us locked, dead or in cuffs, haven’t we been through enough kidnapped brought to a foreign land, sold & auctioned off as if our lives were really worth a couple of bucks. We were beaten, shot, stabbed, raped & mutilated. When is enough enough. Is it fair to eliminate a black panther but in turn allow the klu klux klan to march in the streets semi automatic guns untucked. Do you know what it’s like to be envied & hated for no reason looked down upon in a country where the superior race is made out to be believed as european’s. Do you, can you imagine being beaten like Rodney King, guilty until proven innocent like Hurricane or gunned down a night before your wedding like Sean Bell.
I just want to know do you not want to see the black race prevail, I’ve done plenty wrong so if I’m going I’m going but truth be told right now I’m living in hell.
I just want to know what’s your plan for us we’ve been oppressed many of years, I’ve called upon you but often felt my cry for help did nothing but fall on deaf ears. I don’t look to the sky because down here ish is real. Brown versus the board of education, Malcolm X, Martin Luther if you’re who we were made to believe would comfort us out in the field why you allow that to happen to Emmett Till. 1963 Birmingham, Alabama four innocent lives were taken slain while attending church 4 little black girls were killed. I ask you how much blood of my blood has to be spilled before we are accepted & looked at as created equal.
I just want to know what would you do if you were degraded & witnessed yo family lynched right in front you. How would you feel having to drink from separate water fountains having a voice but it not counting or setting third row on the bus but if confronted that your seat is wanted you have to get up.
I just want to know is it New Age, Buddhism, Muslim, Catholic, Jehovah witness or Christian. 4 thousand & 200, why is there so many different religions, which one is the truth, which one isn’t. What would you believe in, religiously which route would you go. Brainwashed & mentally unattached lot of people are ignorant, don’t care or simply don’t know. Not saying a higher power doesn’t exist because I do believe I’m far from atheist but with 4,200 religions things ain’t adding up, and as long as I’ll know that a whip was held in one & what was suppose to be the word of god in the other truth be told a bible I’ll never touch.
I just want to know because I believe in myself so I don’t ask for much.
