Iris and Pupil

Came the pride and arrogance with fanfare,
Along with the grandeur and opulence of success,
Came the grief and predicament, unbidden,
Along with comeuppance and failure,
Blinded both ways, in the light of success and darkness of failure,
I looked into my own eyes, to find an answer,
Perhaps the pupil held the secret,
Which I so far could not see,
When the events of life dabbled on iris of my eyes,
As the switching shades of darkness and light,
I found that,
My pupil shrinks and contracts to allow no more light than needed,
To make me see but not blinded by the light,
My pupil expands and dilates to allow more light than needed,
To find my way when I’m blinded by the darkness,
For the secret of life lies in my own eyes and in my own vision,
And that’s the beauty of life and this creation!
