Love
A four letter word
A word that is often sadly misused
Why don’t you tell me
What love is exactly?
You may say, “It’s when two people like each other.”
And that’s nice but,
How many times can you like someone?
What if you like another person?
That “love” may become jealousy
Love is used to explain so many things
Like why teens are depressed
Why life is terrible
Or why girls have a kid at sixteen
Are any of these the real meaning?
I don’t know about you
But to me love isn’t just one of my teenage hormones
It’s the person who bled and died so I could be free from the ways of this world
Before I used to question love
If it was so wonderful,
Why did it cause so much pain?
But after I found out what Jesus did for me
I ignored the worlds definition of love
'Cuz the Bible says that Jesus is love
And if we don’t have him
We can’t meaningfully love others
He showed his love when he died on the cross
If he loved us so much to die for us
Shouldn’t that show us that love is serious?
Not just some game you play in 8th grade
So think about it
Can you give a definite answer to this question?

1 John 4:9-10
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
