I hear glass shatter
As I sit up in my bed
From two irrational adults
Who can only see red
A lullaby of screams
Echo down the hall
As I try to drift to sleep
Staring blankly at the wall
Red and blue lights
Dance on my bed
The repercussions
From the adults
Who could only see red
A child lost in thought
Who can’t understand why
Two adults can turn on each other
so quickly
In the night
The child wakes up
Ready for school the next day
To pretend everything at home
Is peachy and okay
No homework to turn in
From a sleepless night
The teacher reprimands her
With no understanding in sight
She sees her future
Dwindle before her eyes
With Chaos in her home
and Chaos in her mind
