Kite that won't fly

I dreamt of a world were kites won’t fly,
They never leave the ground or soar thru the sky .
And the children there, were such pitiful things .
Standing there empty, while holding kite strings .
The wind while whipping it never gave lift .
Robbing the kite, of its one beautiful gift.
I then watched a boat, hanging empty were its sails .
It just bobbed up and down, on the oceans gentle swells .
No matter what, it would not catch the wind .
So it just sat and bobbed were its day had began .
I watched as seagulls just sat on the shore .
No interest in flying, did they have anymore .
They just sat and they watched the kites were they lay .
And also that boat were it started its day .
So I dreamed and I dreamed all Thru the night .
Never understanding why the world wasn’t right .
Something there was missing, this much was true .
While the world was all there, what was missing was you .
So I slept and dreamt of you for awhile .
And all of a sudden those kids wore a smile .
The kites they soared, as the seagulls did too .
As I sailed away on that sailboat with you .
