Strength

Strength, something I thought I had
Until it appears before me and leaves me powerless
And takes away the one thing in this dark world that I cherish
When before that such a thing could never exist
A thing that had shown me proof
Of a light, though small, could survive in darkness
But it was taken away because of strength
Something I thought I had but was gravely mistaken
It appeared like a thief in the night
And left me with a fear so foreign to me
Before then I had never felt such a thing
But now I feel so much more than fear
And it is all because of this strength
Something I thought I had
Something that had deceived me all my life
Something so cruel
And now I am once again left alone
