forgiveness

we can't always win even when we're right, but that shouldn't weaken our confidence
forgiving our enemies brings us a different satisfaction

To gain
Means to earn
But what have I earned from hating you?

The love
That we shared
It wasn’t all wrong because of you

I won’t be gifted happier days, I won’t forget the words that you say
Yet when
Warmth returns
It won’t be because I hated you

The sun
Rose and fell
Still I never got the final word

You won
And I drowned
From memories now a troubled blur

My arguments are a meaningless throw, of fear I can’t move on for my own
But now
Faced with choice
I’ll be a forgiveness amateur

written in my room thinking about a relationship that ended on bad terms. no hard feelings. forgiveness is difficult. but there's something profound about moving on and choosing indifference to escape the shackles of endless anger.
