Leave it to me to take one more step,
Lost in my world and lost in the head
Stumbling down to the road that I know,
Failing to stay and failing to go
Holding my face with the fingers of lies,
The skin I abuse and skin I despise
Tripping and falling to earth once again,
Tears falling now like tears falling then.
A gentle white whisper grazed over my face,
“I knew you’d come back to this curious place.”
Weak inhibitions and familiar space,
But I took a chance and left without a trace.
Leave it to me to forget where I am,
I ran in directions and without a plan
Sprinting and heaving and dying away,
Yet parts of me stayed in a senseless delay
My vision is blurry from turmoil and tears,
My legs getting shaky while days turn to years
Approaching the light but its brightness is pain,
I cover my eyes and take all that remains
A gentle white whisper grazes over my face,
“I knew you would find me in this curious place.”
I open my eyes and see nothing but space,
Here I’ll start new where the past has no trace.
