A Day as a Surgeon

Time is still as the world stops,
Another person falls, the heart rate drops.
I watch him twist and turn in pain,
Tried to say he’s sorry but it’s all too late.
To cut the skin and see the blood,
The heart is still pumping but it’s not enough.
The blade is sharp and it cuts the skin,
Firm grip of the eyebrow, now cut the eyelids.
Cut open the palm and touch a vein,
Now watch it twinkle and spray like gentle rain.
Remove his toes and amputate his legs,
Only a matter of time, he’ll soon be dead.
Hands on his chest bracing the blade,
Eyes reassuring it’ll all be okay.
The flesh it tears, the skin now plops open,
Now blood flows out into the open,
I finally cut the heart out like a doctor should.
I placed it in a bag, but there’s a secret that I have,
Was never really a doctor, he got to me,
When love turns to hate it stings awfully.
Getting on my nerves and I couldn’t take it,
Hit my love with a lamp and ended up breaking it.
Now he lays there, lights in his eyes all out,
His secret love affair is what this war is all about.
The cops are outside but what’s done is done,
Now all that’s left is to pull the trigger of this gun.
Sleep Tight.
