Pfft. Winter.

To Lick Off The Sugar Coating Reality.

People say
That winter’s magical,
Unpredictable,
Fictional,
Like a miracle.

I think it’s more practical.

People say that the flakes are like what witches cast;
Spells and magic (that never last)
But they’re really just frozen super-cooled cloud droplets,
That never last.

Winter brings hope?
Miracles? Wonder?
Please.
All it brings is coldness
And tears the sun asunder.
Literally.

You feel the Christmas warmth as you wake up in the morning?
Please.
You can never wake up in winter; for work, school;
You just simply can’t lift your head.
And the warmth is probably just that you left the radiator on before you went to bed.

And the snow feels nice and soft against your skin?!
Please.
Your hands hurt like hell when you throw a snowball,
And you’re always bound to fall,
Even when you wear double layers;
The excruciating pain forces you to say your last prayers.
It’s probably just the the fake snow you’re feeling,
The machine from SnoWonder;
The Electro Supplies fake snow machine
Is complete rubbish.

You feel like a 'whole’ with your family,
All high,
The 'Christmas Spirit’?
Probably just the turkey you ate–
Do you even see what your Granma puts inside it?
Well, it worked for Cleopatra
Who’s to say that Granny can’t do it too?

So to summarize:
Winter makes you the victim
Of lolly-pop lickers
And makes your day
Freezing
Dreary
dull.
Makes you idle,
Getting nothing done.
Can’t wake up for important stuff
Then you’re late with your head still on the dining table
And finally when you arrive
your boss’ll be able
to snuff you outta your job–
Although I have to say:
working for Sainsburys is probably better than working for Aldi;
Jaffa Cakes in red AND orange?!
Now that’s everybody’s dream.

But I guess there’s only one upside of winter.
You have an excuse for teachers as to why you’re not wearing the correct school shoes.

I know I wrote a poem saying that I loved winter, but that was a complete lie so I wrote another one.
