You're Taking My Heart With You

I know that soon you’ll be far away, and you won’t be coming back for a long while. And I want you to know that I’ll miss you like crazy every day for 730 days, but I also want you to know that I’m proud of your for leaving. I want you to leave because I know it’ll be good for you, and that’s all that matters to me. I know that when you get back, you’ll be even better than you are now, and I look forward to that.
But one other thing you should know is, when you board that plane and take off, you’ll be taking my heart with you. Of course, this is no surprise, since the very second I saw you, my heart practically ripped it’s way out of my chest and sprinted into your hands, but nonetheless, I feel the need to tell you that when you take your seat, my heart will be right beside you.
I hope you keep it with you. I hope you fold it up and tuck it in your pocket every morning before you walk out the door and face the world, and you take it out again whenever you feel discouraged. But not too often, I want you to serve as much as you can. Just often enough that you remember our promise. So many promises made to me have been broken, but oddly enough none of those matter, as long as this one is kept.
So, for goodness’ sake, go, serve the people, lose yourself to the Lord, strengthen your testimony, and share it with the world. I know that you’ll bless so many people. Just don’t forget that I’m here waiting for you, and remember that when you leave, you’re taking my heart with you, and I expect it to be returned safely.

A boy that I kinda sorta love a lot is leaving on a two-year mission
