Silhouette Mountain

1/20/22

Silhouette Mountain,
Purest black, you contest the light.
Black as though Charcoal left his mark.
That is me, he said.
Don’t ever leave me unseen or unread.
As dark as day’s end.
As black as all is and never begins.
Silhouette Mountain, what have you done?
How have you swallowed every ray of sun?
I fear I may feed you.
Take my light; you have won.
You are the one to absorb the blue of up high,
and the green of the hills you neighbor nearby.
Dear Sil, you dismissed Ms. Violet,
despite her violent attempts,
to grip stead fast on your ridges,
Collapsing rainbow bridges,
You seize all we envision.
Purest of black, I’m at a loss of words for you.
You are calming, yet alarming too.
