Stage Left

tongue tied (2009)

Nerves: What so be of them?
Tongue twister of plain psalms
Spit it out, they say
To have a mind is one thing,
to speak it is another.

Nerves: They get the best of me.
Stomach twister; I feel it in my gut:
The pain of acid-bubbling nerves.
System meltdown, swollen mouth.
A failure, a heart attack, what catalyst?

Nerves: Tightening muscles with blood pumping.
That secret-telling rouge.
There is no hiding behind a blush.

Audience: Staring, regarding, amusing, judging, whispering.

I am alone.
Spotlight.

It's amateur for sure. It's supposed to be chaotic and choppy like my racing mind would get during a high school presentation.
