A May Pink Flower Moon

“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves.” Shakespeare...Julius Caesar

            A May Pink Flower Moon
                      ...leni robredo

the society’s corrupt political
dynasties continue to hold power
for generations onward
suppress marginalize the
caged poor populace
sustain the profiteering
unscrupulous buddy buddy
amoral Machiavellian group
an endemic corruption
a stranglehold long
has choked the country
became the proverbial
poor old man of Asia

the wide base
know nothing education deprived
fringe forever poor put down
starving hardly living
from the stench landfill
reeking of dead rodents miasma
foul toxic suffocating smoke
perpetually left fenced in
in this dismal ninth chamber hell
until the next harvesting
of the ballots when their
souls again are for grabs
thirty silver coins worth

such hadean sophistication gutter
inhumane heinous governance
stripped sense of human decency
callous singularly barbaric
fraudulence a way of life
civility wallowing in the septic vault

pitifully shameless authentically gothic
shaming the fallen angel satan himself

the corrupt dynastic political families thrive
the masses the unwashed base stagnate decline
blowing in the wind a cycle for generations untouched
dark clouds in perpetuity hovering
over the fringes the ultra poor the laylayans

but lo and behold

a long time coming a rainbow of hope
now the wind seems to be blowing
in the right direction

in the wind
the sun setting and rising
seems to sustain a wider radiant pink
across the ocean... in the sky
the moon showing its  elusive
mona lisa smile

in the wind
good things to come
a glorious pink flower
blooming from a tiny crack
in a graft trodden hard surfaced
pathway of indifference
yes a small flower reaching for the sun

in the wind
is good governance
empathy in all levels of endeavors
take the country to where you want
the pursuit of freedom
the backbone of happiness
is in your hands for you to extend
to make the change happen
to exercise your privilege
your honor to vote

centered you are the time has come
make the waxing May 9 moon
to a full pink flower moon in the days ahead for a continued abundance of spring flowers for generations to come
