Icarus and the moth

Poem by guest poet Jess Gopez, a Fraternity Brod who composed this poem of hope in a moment’s inspiration from a chat group online of the Tau Alpha Fraternity.

   Icarus and the moth

Don’t fly too high
The sun will melt your wings!
Don’t go near the flame
Knowledge has its price

To fly or not to fly
To soar or not to soar
To push the boundaries
To enlarge the envelope, or not

Some are happy
Where they are
Some are happy
Only where they aren’t

Icarus and the moth
Wanted something greater
Icarus fell from the sky
The moth aflame burned

They were not happy
Being where they were
But where would we
All be without them?
