to Roscoe

My dog
Hardly a fitting title
For so vital  a part of my life
There is nowhere I go
When he’s not under toe
Or spread out so thin
And carefully hidden
Under the bed
Waiting to leap and hear my scream
Barking in joy at the game
Waiting for kisses to tame
his puppy heart that never stops needing
my love and affection
All my privacy went out
When he entered my life
Scratching at the bathroom door
Till his paws are sore
If I enjoy the shower too long or sing a song
I so adore the happiness he brings
With every toy in mess and disarray
On permanent display
Of what was once the living room
Now doomed to be decorated each day
In kind of a doggy way
Making any blues I feel
Dissolve in laughter
As I chase after him in a game we play
That he always lets me win…………….
