As I Live
Sun rising the dawn
Whispers into my ear,
I’m here for you.
Water, rushing into my hands,
Murmurs,
I’m here for you,
Whatever your needs be.
Air, silently filling my lungs,
I’m here for you.
Like water, and air, and sun
Existing for you is my life.
Taking breath after breath,
And rising each day,
Only for you.
Flutes of my heart
Keep playing and fluttering
Only for you.
And my feet keep walking this path
Only as long as we walk hand-in-hand.
Warmth and softness of flesh
That is mine is for you,
I have no need of this body
Without the closeness of yours.
If we don’t fall asleep side-by-side,
Inhaling each other’s dreams,
There isn’t a point in waking.
As long as you live, I live.
As long as you breathe, I breathe.
As long as you laugh and dream,
I also will dream and laugh.
As long as you strum my heart strings,
I’ll sing.
And when stars take you from me,
I will ask them to take me to you,
For my soul has no strength
To sit at the table alone.
