Together

Claws of the night are long,
And terrors of darkness have eyes,
Winds of the storm had blown
Starling nest from its branch.
Two orphan younglings left
Screeching for help on the grass.

Feathers barely formed,
Children not any more,
Nor yet quite adults,
Brother and sister thrown
To fend for each other,
And no one to teach you how.

Learning to fly – essential,
But how to manage the task
When fate shorted your lot?
Poor mother bird only had
One wing each to grant.

Frightened bickering useless,
Join your efforts and hands.
Stitch fast your wings with love,
Two are stronger than one
Against terrors of night.

Together the height of a cliff
Doesn’t intimidate.
With friendlier winds under your wing
You will shake loose dreams of the dark
And into the sunrise break.
