On the shoulders of giants,
I stood defiant.
Everything about me is original
Except I did not create:
the language I speak
the technology I break
the education that unlocked new thought
the spirituality that many people sought
in that nation I called distraught
the trade I somehow did collect
the music I did everyday select
the medicine that heals
the punishment for those who steal
the first cry of an infant
the last sigh of the despondent
nor the families whose values have won
nor the glistening moon and the setting sun.
So in everything you see in me
I redeem original,
except everything.

Have you ever felt like you weren't original?
