We must somehow stop this
What 18 year-old,
still only a kid himself,
walks into an elementary school
and starts firing?
Columbine, Sandy Hook,
Stoneman-Douglas, Oxford High,
and let’s not forget about
all the mass shootings at
movie theaters,
nightclubs,
grocery stores,
synagogues,
and so many other
public meeting spaces,
are straining under the grief
and sorrow of having
these formerly safe spaces
ripped away, over and over
and over again.
“Thoughts and prayers”
are NEVER going to end
the pain that these victims’ families
will now experience every day
that they remain on this earth.
There is an ever-rising tide
of bloodshed and suffering
in this nation,
which we all must find
some way to address.
Doing nothing is
simply not an option
anymore.
RIP to everyone we have lost, and will continue to lose, as the republicans in congress look the other way.
