I didn't know
This was written in midst of a breakup. The worst part of poetry is each sentence speaks the truth we all cover our ears from.
It was thursday evening,
His lips were a poison that would soon infect
each cell and vein of my body,
he made me laugh, so it’s okay
he wont hurt me
He wanted to build a life together and get serious,
but
I didn’t know..
.. I didn’t know that his idea of being together
Was to be alone
I didn’t know that his feelings were in hopes to be happy
and that he would wake up to know that he wasn’t.
It was like hoping for flowers to bloom on a winters day
In the icy cold beds that had surrounded the house we had soon
bought together,
and lost,
together.
How could I have loved someone that didn’t love me?
I didn’t know.
