A Lonely Man

Forgotten and alone, he walks the tracks to everywhere and nowhere,
But he is not unknown beyond these lines.
Time and circumstance have changed this man,
though still the person he once was,
changing times have taken the grace away from him,
his freedom has been altered, his strength it has been sapped,
as the arrows point away from him forever.

For each and every harmful day that passes,
a memory is replaced, even though the days they are of sunshine.
Endlessly he walks towards the setting sun,
but release is always very far away from him.
The city left behind, its glowing night proclaims,
that all is not the way that it was planned to be.

The bells in high towers ring out their loud song,
that says to those who listen, that it wont be long,
before you too will be drifting.
For changes are afoot, that will make today stay put,
and never cross that path towards tomorrow.
So remember if you will that lonely lonely hill,
where once a man was killed to keep him silent.

The route that he now follows will lead him to a time,
where his life will stand before him, to be unfurled.
This lonely man of life, who carries all our strife,
will stand upon the lot that was meant for him.
And once he is in place the days and times of grace will follow brightly.

So each and every life along the way we meet,
must always and forever be under scrutiny,
for one day it will be, that man upon the hill, who will stand  before us,
then and only then, can we know our litany.
Then the whole wide universe will be before us laid,
and 'this’ will be the time we have been searching for.
