Blue Days

The days seem long after time,
The day is gone before you know.
The days gather, and then they go,
These days prolong the blues.

These days are strange before us now,
These days oblique, tilted, slanted,
These days they drag, and are not wanted,
These days bring on the blues.

Those days of worry and of dread,
Those days in front we dare not tread,
Those days now passed but sting us still,
Those days brought on the blues.

Some days we cannot gather hope,
Some days we cannot dare to cope,
Some days we say this is so not right,
Those days they brought the blues.

All days now become unfit,
All days drifting, shifting, split,
All days before us so much loss,
The future brings the blues.

(2005)

The immediate days following the sudden death of loved one, in my case our son, is the most difficult of times, the future seems hopeless, you wonder why him, why you, why us? None of these questions can ever be answered, but in time, and it will take whatever time is necessary, months years, decades even, the sorrow will ebb, but never disappear.
