Just Who Are you?

What did you say? and why did you say it that way?
Who was that that you were talking about?
And why are you looking at me in that way?
Can I help it if I can’t hear what you say?

Often you speak to me like I’m someone else,
It’s very surprising that I don’t take a book off the shelf.
Do I know you? Even after all this time
Your words to me they are never in rhyme.

Its always ‘another’ that’s got into your head,
I think you think I’m that other person instead.
I’m just a shadow that’s lurking, and there is no thread.
I think I should just shuffle off, and go to my bed.

When I wake up you’ll see that I’m still here,
And I don’t want to be the one to cause you any fear,
Your eyes they’ll look and take on a very strange stare
All I can do is hope that when you see its ‘me’ that you don’t swear.

If this goes on much longer there is no way that I’ll get stronger,
I just have to bow out, and do a walkabout,
Hope that if I return you will be able to learn
That it’s he and not me who’s driven you to sea.
