The Journey (Part One)

Now I travel along this lonely road.
With soft light and calm air all around me,
And at my side an unseen presence is my guide,
And at every turn I saw a view better than did any see.

I saw rippling streams, and quiet rivers that meander slowly,
And a forest of great trees that stand to witness.
High walls festooned with ivy, and red berries of the holly,
I resolve this view, and I almost understand, but not the less.

Across the valley stands the ruin of a castle,
With many windows that look out to sea.
There are gentle paths with coloured flora,
With sweet song-birds and the buzz of bee.

In the sky above me, bright and blue,
There are high slow moving clouds of every hue.
In which my memories are returned to me,
And my life again relived for him to see.

And now a gate I come to, and across a bridge I pass,
Towards great doors that open, but not to fear.
The place I seek is now within my reach at last,
To the higher hills the longer way is clear.

Where I came across a dwelling with many rooms,
And in every room there are many houses,
And in each house there are many countries,
And each country is upon a spinning sphere…
