When you went away that day
I caught your smile in my eye

Was that smile you’re last goodbye?
 
The years I knew you were the best
My heart would race to see your face
I did not mean to make you sad
My only hope was to make you glad
 
I couldn’t see that things had changed
I did not want to see you go
My life will now be rearranged
My heart will break to take this blow
 
Without you now the days are dark
