Twin Towers

The Attack on New York

It is calm on this September day
The sun is up, there seems no fear
When from bright morning skies
Comes destruction with flying cries

The towers reaching into the sky
Side by side, proud, standing by
Symbols of a nations power
Structures of a city that does not cower

Then in disbelief their walls are shattered
Fire engulfs them the floors are battered
The beams of steel warp and bend
As people from them leap to their end

All that is possible is done to help
Fire crews ascend the burning towers
They bring out few, and carry news of terror
They loose their battle but not in error

The deafening sound of actual collapse
Brings shock and fright, every heart eclipsed
This tragic sight that none can bear
But there were heroes on every stair

With twisted metal and clouds of dust
The cities heart is crushed
The day that will forever be
9/11 and infamy

(2011)

Dedicated to all those people who lost their lives in this most terrible act of aggression on the United States and to all the NYFD crew and Police who attended that day and the many who also lost their lives helping others, and to the people of New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania
